Comfortable win for Town reserves

Shrewsbury Town 2 Mansfield 0
Nick Chadwick grabbed his first goal in Shrewsbury colours to help earn another Totesport.com League success.
Town ran out comfortable winners against Mansfield, with Michael Symes also on the scoresheet in the first half.
But manager Paul Simpson was disappointed with the performance from the hosts.
“It was a good run but it wasn’t the level of performance I am wanting from the players,” said Simpson.
“We are playing against a Mansfield team of mainly young lads and trialists and I think we should expect better.
“I want to win these games but I want a better performance than we have had.”
Shrewsbury went close with three headers in the early stages from Chadwick, Dave Hibbert and Mike Jackson, the last of which was cleared off the line by former Telford United winger Michael Blackwood.
Mansfield, for whom ex-Shrewsbury striker Mark Stallard led the line, offered little in the way of attacking threat and it was no surprise to see Shrewsbury take the lead on 18 minutes, Chadwick capitalising on indecision in the visitors’ defence to loop a header over goalkeeper Dan Whatsize.
Ashley Burberry had a goal disallowed for kicking the ball out of the hands of Shrewsbury goalkeeper Jaz Singh, before Symes doubled the advantage from the penalty spot after Chadwick had been fouled by Sean Webbs nine minutes before the interval.
Chadwick and Symes had further chances to extend the lead in a subdued second half but were denied by Whatsize with two fiercely struck efforts.
