Police hail pubs scheme

Pub successPolice are hailing the success of a scheme targeting festive anti-social behaviour in Powys.

Alcohol-fuelled violence dipped by 17 per cent at Christmas in Mid Wales, with The Behave or Be Banned (BoBB) scheme being credited with making the difference.

Antony Topazio, Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman, said: “The results are thanks to the high-profile BoBB initiative, which was rolled-out in pubs and clubs in several towns across the county.

“BoBB, which is a collaboration between police, local licensees and the Powys Community Safety Partnership, helped to ensure the bars and streets were safe for people who wanted to enjoy the festive spirit.”

Under the BoBB scheme, licensees work with partners to ensure the minority of troublemakers are not allowed into pubs and clubs. People caught causing trouble in one establishment face being banned from all venues for up to 12 months.
