Firm reveals record results

WynnstayShropshire and Mid Wales agricultural supplies company Wynnstay today announced record pre-tax profits of £5.22 million, up 61 per cent.

Bosses at the group, based at Llansantffraid, near Oswestry, said the results were “exceptional”, with sales up by 49 per cent to £234 million. 

Wynnstay operates a network of stores across Shropshire, Mid and North Wales, providing a range of agricultural and country lifestyle products as well as the Just for Pets stores, the first of which opened in Telford last year.

Chief executive Ken Greetham said today: “Agriculture is counter-cyclical and these results are proving that.” 

Wynnstay said sales of agricultural supplies were up 52 per cent to £185.2m and operating profits rose 112 per cent to £3.89m. Retail sales rose 42 per cent to £49.2m, with operating profits increasing by 45 per cent to £1.9m.
