Pontesbury-based Rowson, who has just switched teams to
sign for Factory CCM Racing, has snapped ligaments in his right knee
after an accident while practising in Belgium, where he is due to
return tonight for an operation.
It is a massive blow for the 20-year-old, who was
attempting to build on his rapid progress over the last two years as he
prepared for a first full season in the open class of the World
Championship and Maxxis British Championship.

Pontesbury-based Rowson, who has just switched teams to

It is a massive blow for the 20-year-old, who was
attempting to build on his rapid progress over the last two years as he
prepared for a first full season in the open class of the World
Championship and Maxxis British Championship.
He has raced a number of individual races in the two
series before, and finished in the top 10 in the British Championship
in 2008.
“It was just a silly mistake in the corner and I felt my knee go pop,” said Rowson.
“It’s disappointing because I was really looking forward
to the season and now I will have to wait longer than everyone else to
get started.
“But it will just make me more hungry when I do get back in about three or four months.
“The team have been fantastic about it – they know it’s part and parcel of the sport.”
Rowson will definitely miss the chance to compete in the Hawkstone International at Hawkstone Park at the end of February.
