Nicole wins bronze Down Under

A Shropshire gymnast has won a bronze medal at the 2009 Australian Youth Olympic Festival.
Nicole Watson, of the Park-Wrekin club, linked up with Danusia Francis, Nicole Hibbert and Jenni Pinches to take third place for Great Britain in the women’s team gymnastics competition.
Watson – 13 and from Tibberton, near Newport – was part of fine GB effort in Sydney as the male gymnasts saw off the highly-fancied Chinese team to claim gold.
Team GB claimed their first medal of the festival yesterday when flatwater canoeist Edward Rutherford took bronze in the men’s K1 1,000 metres.
