Mohammed AshaA former Shropshire doctor cleared of involvement in the London and Glasgow car bomb plot was today released from custody.

Mohammed Asha, 28, who worked at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital until August 2006, faces deportation after his migrant programme visa expired while he was on remand.

He was released on bail today pending an appeal before the Special Immigration Appeals Commission in London.

Asha accused the Government of “sour grapes” when he was not released despite being cleared of conspiracy to murder and to cause explosions following a trial at Woolwich Crown Court last year.

His co-accused Bilal Abdulla, 29, was found guilty.

A three-man panel at the Special Immigration Appeals Commission today rejected Home Office claims that Dr Asha presented a threat to national security.
