Goodbye, Prisoner Number Six

The actor Patrick McGoohan, best know for his cult TV series The Prisoner, died yesterday at the age of 80. He was best known for the Sixties television series, which was shot in North Wales.
The series, filmed in the village of Portmeirion, spawned a number of fan clubs, one of which is based in Shrewsbury.
Mr McGoohan died in Los Angeles after a short illness.

A very sad loss, McGoohan was an extraordinary actor with unlimited talent. He will be sadly missed. Members of Six of One, the Prisoner Appreciation Society will be celebrating Patrick McGoohan’s life at the Prisoner convention at the end of March in Portmeirion, the series’ filming location.

Patrick M has been with me on and off all of my life and the series had a great influence on me with spin offs and strands down the years in may different ways.
As Mr Saddington said, above, at last he IS a free man.

A truly great actor much underrated. The Prisoner is as relevant today as it was over 40 years ago. A lasting testimonial to a fine actor/writer/director.
