Nothing to fear, says Chambers
Thursday 15th January 2009, 12:30PM GMT.
Larry Chambers insists AFC Telford United will have “a point to prove” when they head to Kettering Town in the last 16 of the FA Trophy.
The Poppies finally saw off plucky Southern League side Tiverton in a replay last night, winning 4-1 on penalties to set up a meeting with the Bucks on Saturday, January 31.
Blue Square Premier outfit Kettering will start as favourites for that clash, but assistant manager Chambers feels Telford have a score to settle after being beaten home and away by the eventual champions last season.
Telford will face the Poppies twice this month, with their home clash in the Setanta Shield area semi-finals now having been re-arranged for nest Tuesday evening.
“It’s going to be a tough game for us, but at this stage there are no easy draws,” said Chambers, who is also hopeful of completing a loan signing to strengthen his squad later today.
“You’re always hoping for a home draw at this stage and we haven’t got that, but we still feel there’s nothing to really frighten us.
“We feel we’ve got a bit to prove because of how they beat us last year at a bit of a canter.
“It will be a good test for us to see how far we’ve come – we really believe we’ve got a better squad this year.”
The Bucks return to league action on Saturday, with Hyde United the visitors to the New Bucks Head.
Attention is inevitably starting to turn to the trip to current leaders Tamworth in three weeks time though, with the game having been made all-ticket for the away fans.
Telford have been allocated 650 tickets, with 600 of those on the terrace priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
The 50 seats in the Main Stand at The Lamb will be priced at £12 for adults and £7 for concessions.
The Bucks have still to announce when they will go on sale, though season ticket holders are likely to be given priority for a game that is expected to attract a large travelling contingent.
