Store closes after lease talks fail

Charity bosses are closing a store in Oswestry after failing to reach an agreement over the lease.
Animal welfare organisation PDSA closed its store in Bailey Street, Oswestry, on New Year’s Eve after being unable to negotiate a lease to continue trading.
A notice on the door from the charity, which has its headquarters in Whitechapel Way, Priorslee, Telford, thanked its volunteers and said it was “with regret” the store had closed.
The notice says: “Staff and volunteers wish to thank all the customers, and people who have donated to the shop, for their generosity and loyalty.
“We have thoroughly enjoyed our 10 years in Oswestry.”
Dave Jenkins, a volunteer at the shop for three years, said he was sad to see it close.
“It’s like a community in itself with about 20 volunteers who come here,” he said.
Jenny Davies, PDSA spokeswoman, said: “After careful consideration, PDSA took the decision to close its charity shop in Oswestry.
“PDSA is extremely grateful for the loyal support of its staff, volunteers and customers over the last 10 years of raising funds for sick and injured pets and wishes to thank everyone who supported the charity.”
Animal lovers who still want to help the PDSA can call the fundraising department on (01952) 290999.
