Party murder mum named
Friday 2nd January 2009, 11:15AM GMT.
Sharn Jones died at a house in Minsterley in the early hours of yesterday
A mother whose death at a New Year’s Eve party in a Shropshire village has prompted a murder investigation has been named by police as Sharn Elizabeth Jones.
Ms Jones died at a house in Minsterley, near Shrewsbury, in the early hours of yesterday. A man arrested on suspicion of murdering the 46-year-old was today still being held by police.

Custody time limits were extended by a senior officer until later today.
Police were called to the house alongside the main A488 into Minsterley shortly after 3am yesterday.
Detectives said a party was taking place and the man, who is in his 30s, was arrested a short time after officers arrived.
Inspector Keith Gee said: “Police have now named the victim as Sharn Elizabeth Jones – a 46-year-old lady – of Minsterley, near Shrewsbury.
“The results of the post-mortem examination are still awaited and the male in his 30s who was arrested at the scene remains in custody on suspicion of murder.”
The post mortem was carried out yesterday.
Tributes to Ms Jones were put on her page on the social networking website Facebook.
Friend Paula Briffa wrote: “Goodbye Sharn, can’t believe this has happened to you. God bless and may you RIP.”
Friend Suzanne Lednor wrote: “I can’t believe 2009 comes and we are saying goodbye to you. Sharn, you have touched so many hearts in the short time I have known you and I know from above you will continue to do so.”
Yvonne Holyoak, a county councillor for the Rea Valley, said she was devastated as she had known Ms Jones for many years. She said: “She was a really good mother and a really nice person and cared for her disabled daughter.”
The site features a photograph of Ms Jones taken early on New Year’s Day.
Ms Jones, who described herself as single, was also pictured celebrating her son’s 21st birthday just a few days ago.

I am still in shock, Sharn, you were always so lively, so passionate, so full of life, it is so hard to believe that you are no longer going to be partying the nights away. My thoughts are with your family, I know you will still be looking after Lottie, protecting her, where ever you are. You will still be the proud mother you always were….. You have so many friends and neighbours, I hope you rest peacefully in the knowledge your childeren will be cared for.
remember you forever. Jodie
