Tributes to accident victim
Thursday 18th December 2008, 11:45AM GMT.
A 55-year-old man killed in an accident on a Shropshire road has been named as former county postman John Adams, of Loggerheads.
Mr Adams, of Market Drayton Road, died after his motorcycle was involved in an accident with a van on the A53 at the Red Bull junction, between Market Drayton and Loggerheads, on Tuesday.
The accident happened shortly after 4pm as Mr Adams was riding his motorcycle from the direction of Market Drayton.
Mr Adams’ wife, Margaret, was today too upset to speak, but former colleagues at Market Drayton sorting office described him as a “very likeable chap”.
One former colleague at the office, who did not wish to be named, said Mr Adams worked as a postman for several years but left about three years ago to take on a job as a gamekeeper.
“He was very amiable, especially at this time of year when it’s quite hard work for us, he was a nice bloke,” he said.
“He liked his bikes, he was big on them, and he liked shooting too.”
Charnjett Saund, postmistress at Loggerheads, also paid tribute.
“He was such a lovely gentle giant. He was very tall and very softly spoken,” she said.
Witnesses can Staffordshire Police on 0300 1234455.
Mr Adams’s family has asked that no flowers be left at the scene.
