Cars from the movies
Wednesday 17th December 2008, 5:30AM GMT.
From the Weasley’s vintage Citroen in ‘Harry Potter’ to the highly desirable Vanquish from ‘Die Another Day’, Lara Page revisits some of the best-loved movie cars of all time.

Voted the ultimate big screen car, the Batmobile made its movie debut in the 1989 movie ‘Batman’ starring Michael Keaton. Pictured here is the version used in the 2005 ‘Batman Begins’ film, starring Christian Bale and Michael Caine.

Yes, yes.
But where is the Mustang GT390 in Sherwood Green that Steve McQueen drove in “Bullitt”? Arguably (and I will argue) the greatest car chase ever committed to film.
Or the Series 1 Lotus Esprit “submarine” car from The Spy Who Loved Me?

By the way, the DB5 pictured is not (one) of the Astons used to film Goldfinger. The only one generally accepted to still be in existence is BMT 412A, previously owned by Sir Anthony Bamford (of JCB fame), and autioned last year for £2.5 million.

Totally by accident, I found what must be the best collection of TV and Film cars on public display in the UK at The Cars Of The Stars Museum in Keswick in the Lake District.
And Spindrift, the guy behind that collection (oddly enough the local dentist !!!) has a seperate collection of James Bond cars including The Spy Who Loved Me Lotus in Edinburgh somewhere

Shropshire Man: I always walk past the Cars of the Stars museum in Keswick as I thought the main attaction was Del Boys 3-wheeler. Its sounds as good as the Pencil Museum in Kendal!
However I would recommend the Laurel and Hardy Museum in Ulverston – there is some much more to the Lake District than lakes and sheep!

2nd attempt to get this posted…
On a point of accuracy, the Citroen DS shown was not in a Harry Potter film.
It is from the 2006 film ‘Driving Lessons’ starring Julie Walters and Rupert Grint.
On that basis, although the DS was one of the great cars, and ‘Driving Lessons’ was a pleasant enough film, it’s difficult to justify its inclusion in a list of ‘The Greatest Movie Cars of All Time’.
You might as well have used a DS from ‘The Day of the Jackal’,
