Warmer weather on way

WeatherThe mercury is expected to be on the rise in Shropshire and Mid Wales after freezing temperatures and flash flooding over the weekend caused chaos for some residents and motorists.

Temperatures dropped to -3C (27F) overnight leading to patchy fog and treacherous conditions for drivers, but Shropshire Star weatherman John Warner said it would start getting milder.

“This evening it will gradually warm up,” he said. “By dawn there will be a little bit of rain or drizzle around. It will be milder, 9C (48F).”

He added forecasts at present predicted a dry Christmas Day.

Flood watches are in force for the River Severn from Shrawardine to Coalport today as drivers were warned to be on their guard after a 4×4 pick-up truck got stuck in water near Bridgnorth.
