Ronnie ready for testing tie
Monday 15th December 2008, 6:00PM GMT.
Fans’ favourite Ronnie O’Sullivan will be the star snooker attraction at Telford’s International Centre tonight when the third day’s action at the Maplin UK Championships draws to a close, writes JAMES GARRISON.
O’Sullivan continues his quest for a fifth victory in the sport’s second biggest event when he takes on Joe Perry in an intriguing second round battle.
Perry has been in excellent form recently and was only edged out 5-4 when the pair met in the semi-finals of the Premier League nine days ago.
And O’Sullivan, who survived a scare before sealing a 9-6 victory over Rory McLeod on Saturday, is aware it will be a testing encounter.
“Joe is a tough match player and reached the semis of the Worlds,” said O’Sullivan.
“He has been around and got all the experience in the world so it will be a tough game.”
