No panic, says Town boss

Manager Paul Simpson has insisted he won’t be pressing the panic button about Shrewsbury Town’s away day difficulties – as Jamie White was booked in for another month at the Prostar Stadium.
Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Grimsby left Town with only one win from 10 games on the road in League Two this term.

The disappointment was magnified as it was the Mariners first home success of the season.
But Town remain third in the table, and Simpson insists his side will continue to work towards improving form on their travels.
“At the moment, it’s not good enough (but) it’s three defeats on the road so it’s not the end of the world,” said Simpson.
“We just have to keep going. We have had some good days and we have had some bad days.
“I’m not getting as screwed up about it as everyone thinks that we should be.
“But we have got to make sure we keep looking at it and trying to learn from it and hopefully improve over this second half.
“We have been on a good run of late, away from home as well as at home.
“This is the first disappointment we have had for a while and we have to pick ourselves up and go on another run.”
Simpson felt missed opportunities in the opening hour had proved costly for his side at Blundell Park.
“I think the performance was there and we have had the opportunities,” he added. “We haven’t finished them off – it’s as simple as that.
“I thought there were a lot of good things, particularly first half.
“But second half, we didn’t build on it and we didn’t take it to the Grimsby back four and their goalkeeper and didn’t work them as much as we would have liked to.”
Meanwhile, White will remain at Shrewsbury for the Christmas and New Year period after Simpson reached an agreement with Southampton to extend the striker’s loan for a further month.
“He has looked a real threat with his pace up front,” said the Town chief.
