Foster family funeral set
Monday 15th December 2008, 7:59AM GMT.
The body of Shropshire family murderer Christopher Foster will be buried next to his wife and teenage daughter in the village where they were killed.
The funeral for the 50-year-old businessman will take place on Friday, hours after the service for his wife Jill and their daughter Kirstie, 15.
The funerals come nearly four months after Foster shot his wife in the head and killed his daughter before setting their luxury £1.15 million home, Osbaston House in Maesbrook, on fire and killing himself.
Mrs Foster and Kirstie will share a grave. Foster will be buried in a separate plot next to them.
Mrs Foster’s sister Anne Giddings said she did not want her sister and niece buried near their killer.
She said: “I’m gutted to think that beast will be buried in the same cemetery as my sister and her beautiful daughter. He will be lying right next to them, just a few feet away.”
Gavin Drake, director of communications for the Diocese of Lichfield, said the arrangements were made in consultation with the families and next of kin.
“It is impossible to find a solution which will fully satisfy everybody,” he said.
“But we hope the funerals will provide a dignified opportunity for the families and friends to pay their final respects.”
Family friends Tudor and Rita Griffiths said: “The funerals of Chris, Jill and Kirstie will obviously be extremely sad for us and all who knew them.”
Geraldine Jones, who enjoyed Berriew Show with Kirstie and Mrs Foster three days before their deaths, said she would attend their funeral at St John’s Church, Maesbrook, at 11am. Mr Foster’s funeral is at 2.30pm.
