Davies cues up for pal Ronnie
Thursday 11th December 2008, 1:07PM GMT.
Ronnie O’Sullivan hopes to be in the running in more ways than one in Shropshire next week.
Dubbed the most naturally talented player ever to pick up a cue, O’Sullivan will undoubtedly rank as the man to beat at Telford’s International Centre.
But it would be no surprise if, during his time away from the table, the Essex ace will be founded pounding the streets of Shropshire in his other favourite pastime – running.
Last year, he teamed up with members of Telford Athletic Club including former Commonwealth Games ace Chris Davies, for a string of training runs.
And more of the same could be on the cards this year.
“I haven’t heard from Ronnie for a little while but I will be dropping him a text before the tournament starts and we would be delighted to join him for some more runs,” said Davies.
“Ronnie contacted the club last year because he wanted someone to go running with and he joined about 15 of us for three or four runs.
“There was a group of us going out for dinner most nights and I think it helped Ronnie because I know from running trips that it can be hard work being stuck in a hotel room.”
