Town nets cash boost

The Government is awarding the new Shropshire Council £5.94 million over the next three years to help develop Shrewsbury.

Money will be spent on initiatives aimed at providing houses and ensuring the town is a focus for employment, community facilities and services.

The new council will be expected to work closely with partners and agencies to deliver about 3,500 extra homes by 2016 – including 100 affordable homes each year – bring forward development projects and implement a package of transport measures.
