Horse rescued by 999 crew

Wednesday 10th December 2008, 11:34AM GMT.

Firefighters faced a race against time to rescue a horse which was trapped upside down in therapy equipment at a Shropshire equestrian centre.

The crew from Baschurch had to haul the stricken horse out of the apparatus while it was sedated and had only minutes to get it into a stable before it woke up.

Crew manager Geoff Davies said firefighters worked as quickly as they could in case the animal woke up and started kicking out during yesterday’s rescue at Adcote Mill Barn, near Baschurch.

The horse was unharmed.
