Suspect injures woman
Tuesday 9th December 2008, 12:01AM GMT.
A suspected shoplifter left a supermarket worker bruised and grazed after shoving her to the ground in a fracas in a Telford street.
The worker was attacked after following the woman outside the Co-op in Priorslee Avenue, Priorslee, on Sunday, at about 9.55pm, as she believed she had stolen items from the store.
Chris Ammonds, Telford police spokesman, said the 57-year-old victim asked the woman to show her the items in her bag but she refused.
He said the woman refused to accompany the Co-op employee back into the store and an altercation took place, during which the worker was pushed to the ground. The woman, who ran off, was thought to have taken items from the shop with her.
She was described as white, aged about 25, about 5ft 6ins and of average build.
She had dark brown or black hair cut in a bob, brown eyes and was wearing a grey tracksuit top.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Telford police on 03003 333000.
