Baby Faith ‘is stable’ in hospital

Monday 8th December 2008, 9:46AM GMT.

Little Faith Williams remains in a stable condition in intensive care today as messages of support pour in from around the world.

The little girl was given a 50/50 chance of survival following the operation to separate her from her twin sister Hope last Tuesday.

Parents Aled and Laura Williams, of Harlescott, Shrewsbury, have been comforted by letters and cards carrying messages of support.

The couple are remaining strong for Faith despite losing her sister Hope following the operation at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Aled, 28, has described the moment he told doctors to let Hope die in peace as the “hardest” of his life.

Hope was just a week old when she died on Tuesday at 5.26pm. She had been successfully separated from Faith, but her lungs were too small.

“They kept on trying,” Aled said. “They just wanted her to come back but there was nothing they could do, I told them it was time to let her go.

He said Laura left the room because she “couldn’t cope” and that he kissed his daughter goodbye for the both of them.
