More jobs created in countyA pioneering Telford company, which specialises in environmentally-friendly industrial cleaning, is to create 50 jobs next year.

Sentinel Surface Technologies, in Stafford Park, was set up only six months ago but managers today announced the jobs boost thanks to the company’s rapid growth.

The firm, which has created a unique method of using ordinary baking powder for industrial cleaning purposes, has also signed a “significant” contract with Halesfield-based Severn Valley Packaging, adding to its growing client base which includes national blue chip firms including Shell and BP.

SVP has brought Sentinel on board to help it comply with British Retail Consortium standards for the food packaging industry which will, in turn, allow it to gain new business contracts.

Managing director Steve Harris said: “We are very surprised at how much interest there has been in what we are doing. And we never thought we would grow as quickly as we are.

“We are hoping to have a turnover of around £3 million within the next two to three years, which is a phenomenal rate of growth.”

Danny Love, of Sentinel, said initially the new contract would create four new jobs, but the firm planned to create up to 50 by the end of 2009.

The jobs will be mainly for cleaning operatives, although some administration posts will be created.
