Popular tourist trip back on track

One of Shropshire’s most popular tourist attractions is running back at full steam in time for the Christmas season following the completion of maintenance work.
Trains will be running along the full length of the Severn Valley Railway over the festive period after engineers finishing repairing a bridge in Kidderminster.
The line has been closed between Kidderminster and Bewdley for the past few weeks for work repair work to be carried out on the A449 Worcester Road bridge.
The railway will be running a festive service between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth between Boxing Day and January 4. There will be Christmas carol trains running between the towns on December 13 and 20.
The steam-hauled Santa Special service will be running between Kidderminster and Arley starting this Saturday and Sunday and on December 13, 14, 20, 21 and Christmas Eve.
The railway’s Santa Herald diesel unit service between Kidderminster and Highley will be running on December 19, 22 and 23.
John Leach, the railway’s marketing manager, said things were looking good for the Christmas season.
He also revealed the railway was looking forward to a season of bumper bookings.
“The work was finished earlier this week and we have been moving empty carriages along the line in preparation for the Santa Special services which start this weekend,” he said.
