Missing woman inquiries continue
Friday 5th December 2008, 11:59AM GMT.
Police are carrying out house-to-house inquiries as they continue searching for a Broseley woman who has been missing for four days.
Officers have been knocking on doors in the town and distributing leaflets about Sheila Kane, who went missing from her Ironbridge Road home on Monday evening.
A massive search operation has been launched to try and find the 57-year-old who is believed to have been wearing green check pyjamas and huggy-style boots. She may also have been wearing a khaki green coat.
The North Wales Mountain Rescue Team has joined officers with dogs and the police helicopter in trying to track her down. She is described as being about 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build and with short, grey hair.
Inspector Stephen Fitzpatrick, from West Mercia Constabulary, today urged Mrs Kane to get in touch with either the police or her family and let them know she was all right.
He said her disappearance was totally out of character and, with temperatures being so low in recent days, there was genuine concern for her welfare.
“Mrs Kane has not been very well recently and is not believed to have taken her medication with her,” he said. “Many people in the area might know her by her maiden name of Sheila Carter.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 0300 333 3000.
