Familiar faces prepare for the show
Friday 5th December 2008, 3:00PM GMT.
Rehearsals have begun for a panto which will be bringing familiar faces from stage and screen to Telford this Christmas – and a touch of magic.
Beauty and the Beast is on at Oakengates Theatre@The Place from December 12.
Stars include Sue Hodge as wicked Witch Hazel and Richard Calkin as the villainous Gaston.
Sue is famous for her role as waitress Mimi Labonq in ‘Allo ‘Allo, while Richard has appeared in several soaps including EastEnders, Brookside and recently as gym manager Richard Taylor in Hollyoaks.
Comedian and impressionist Paul Squire will play Professor Crackpot, while the show also stars West End performer Oliver Thornton, who will take on the role of the Beast, and Danielle Harvey as Beauty.
Children from Telford dance schools have also been selected to appear in the panto.
Vicki Cotterell, theatre spokeswoman, said: “The cast arrived in Oakengates this week and rehearsals are under way for creating a wonderful Christmas experience for all the family.”
The panto is scheduled to run until January 4. More details on (01952) 382382.
