Faith is ‘battling for her survival’

Friday 5th December 2008, 11:10AM GMT.

Little Faith Williams remained in intensive care today as she continued to battle for survival.

The surviving conjoined twin born to teenager Laura Williams, of Harlescott, Shrewsbury, is in a serious but stable condition at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children following an operation to separate her and her sister Hope on Tuesday.

Medics have given baby Faith a 50/50 chance of winning her fight after she showed some signs of improvement.

A spokeswoman for the specialist hospital described Faith as a “very sick little girl”.

Professor Agostino Pierro, head of the surgical team at the hospital, carried out “one of the most complex and challenging operations” ever faced at the hospital.
