Reynolds seals Drayton return
Monday 1st December 2008, 11:47AM GMT.
Midland Alliance top scorers Market Drayton Town have sent out a signal of intent with the signing of former Telford United and Kidderminster Harriers striker Luke Reynolds.
Reynolds, 29, agreed to return to his home town club for a second stint after cancelling his contract at Bromsgrove Rovers by mutual consent last week.
The marksman made his first appearance for league leaders Drayton on the weekend against Stratford Town and scored the second in a 3-0 win – but boss Simon Line is sure that there is plenty more to come.
“He looked like he hadn’t played for a couple of weeks,” he said. “Luke still wants to play at the higher level, but some players come here and don’t want to leave, so we’ll see.
“You can tell he’s a quality player – he’s got that class about him and is the perfect replacement for Tom Ward, who is out for four weeks (hamstring).”
Reynolds made in excess of 80 appearances under Line during his first period with the club before leaving for AFC Telford United in September 2005. The Birmingham-born hitman banged in 18 goals in just 30 games for the Bucks, earning him a move to Kidderminster.
Reynolds returned to Telford having scored four goals in eight appearances. He managed a further seven goals in 36 games for United before joining Bromsgrove.
