Two-year jail term for golf ace’s son

Monday 24th November 2008, 11:14AM GMT.

The son of Shropshire golf legend Ian Woosnam has been jailed for two years for attacking a teenager.

Daniel Woosnam, 23, and Oliver Hall, 21, both of of St Peter, Jersey, repeatedly punched and kicked their victim over an unpaid debt.

The 18-year-old suffered severe bruising and a double fracture to his jaw and will have three titanium plates in his face for the rest of his life.

Hall was jailed for two years for his part in the attack and an extra year for breaching previous court orders.

Jersey Royal Court heard the duo attacked their victim in June after he failed to repay a debt of between £800 and £900.

Speaking afterwards, Oswestry-born Mr Woosnam said: “My son is very remorseful. What happened was very unfortunate.”
