An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a stabbing which left a Telford man in hospital.

The youth was due to appear before Telford Magistrates Court this afternoon charged with assault.

He was arrested on Wednesday night after a 23-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his chest.

The man was taken to Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital where he was understood to have a punctured lung. His condition was today described as “stable”.

The victim was found with stab wounds to his chest in Westbourne, Woodside, at 6.20pm on Wednesday. A police investigation is under way to try and establish where the man was when he was stabbed.

Detective Sergeant Andy Garrett, of Telford CID, said: “Anyone who was in and around the vicinity of Westbourne between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday is asked to consider whether they saw anything that may help us establish how the 23-year-old man came to suffer his injuries.”
