Dave glued to TV despite naked wife
Friday 21st November 2008, 12:29PM GMT.
A Telford factory worker dubbed Britain’s laziest man today told millions of TV viewers how not even his wife walking past him naked could distract him from his beloved TV.
Dave Wynn’s long-suffering wife Denise admitted she had stripped off in the lounge in a bid to lure him away from his armchair in front of the screen but conceded: “He didn’t even flicker his eyelids.”
The couple, from Woodhouse Crescent, Trench, aired Dave’s idleness on the Trisha Goddard Show before the 45-year-old was sent for “man training” by Telford-based experts Sue Hedges and Angie Savchenko.
The two woman set up their own online business, www.moanaboutmen.co.uk, after claiming to have successfully transformed their own slothful spouses.
Denise and Dave, who have daughters aged 22 and 16, told of their married life on this morning’s edition of the TV show, in a feature called House Train My Man.
Denise, 44, who works in the Co-op in Wombridge Road, Trench, recalled the day she stripped to catch Dave’s eye and told Trisha: “He didn’t notice I had walked past stark naked. He was too busy watching TV.”
Denise said Dave put the telly on first thing in the morning, before he went to work, and he put it on in the afternoon and at night.
“Dave could be Europe’s laziest man,” she said. “I’m fed up of asking him to do jobs in the house and the garden.
“I just want him to be normal. I would like him to pay more attention to me.”
Dave held his hands up and admitted he was hooked on watching television.
“I do get engrossed,” he said. “Hands up, I’m guilty as charged.”
The “training” by Angie and Sue saw Dave wear just his underpants, an apron and a mop and bucket, into which he dumped a TV remote control.
Dave, who works at Ogihara in Hortonwood, told Denise: “I’m a changed man. I promise to dedicate a couple of days a week to you.”
