Music hall to museum plan backed

Thursday 20th November 2008, 11:37AM GMT.

Shrewsbury Music HallPlans to transform Shrewsbury’s historic Music Hall into a museum, tourist information centre and cafe have been given the go-ahead.

The aim is to improve public access to the building, parts of which date back to the 13th century.

More modern parts will be demolished. The multi-million pound scheme has had financial setbacks after failing to get Lottery money.

The authority will learn in December if its latest bid for a Lottery grant is successful.

The premises will not be open to the public or customers outside 9am to 11pm.
