Moss out to cash in

Darren MossDarren Moss has revealed he is in his ‘best shape ever’ as he bids to earn a Shrewsbury Town recall at one of his happiest hunting grounds.

Moss is favourite to slot in at right-back to replace the suspended Ben Herd for Saturday’s trip to Lincoln.

And that will give him the chance to make another appearance at Sincil Bank, a ground which has provided memories for the former Welsh under-21 international in recent times.

“People say it’s a really tough place to go but I quite enjoy it,” said Moss.

“I played in our 4-0 win there last season and scored there in the reserves this season so it’s been quite a good ground to me.

“I’m not sure what the team is gong to be for Saturday but I’m desperate to get my chance.

“The most frustrating thing about this season is that the training the gaffer does has really benefited me and I have never felt as fit or as strong as this.

“But the lads have been doing well so I can’t argue. I’ve just had to wait for my chance – hopefully it will come Saturday and I can take it.”

Meanwhile, striker Jamie White believes the Prostar Stadium is the perfect place to continue his football development.

White, who turned 19 on Monday, has joined on a one month’s loan from Southampton and made a lively cameo appearance in last Friday’s 2-2 draw at Chesterfield.

The forward is full of confidence having made his Football League debut for the Saints earlier this term, and grabbing two reserve hat-tricks in the last month against Millwall and Plymouth. Now he is hoping to make an impact at Town.

“I’m looking forward to the rest of the month and hopefully I can make an impact and get a few goals,” said White, who was pursued by Chelsea during his schoolboy days.

“I enjoyed coming on last Friday and the manager, staff and players have all made me feel really welcome and the facilities are all really good.

“There are some good strikers here so hopefully I can pick up a few tips off them which will help me.

“At the moment, it’s just for a month but we will see how it goes and you never know.”
