Interesting – but just how is 6Kw going to help a store whose freezers probably consume more than that each. Perhaps someone could ask Tesco about this?

I’ve just heard they’re proposing the same thing at their Ludlow store. I think it’s just a cynical gimmick aimed at promoting their Green credentials, and will oppose if, when given the chance.

Well done Tesco, might not same them a great deal but until everyone realises the need and acts to save energy, as people have already said, every little helps. I’ll bet that it’ll be the kids shopping with mum and dad who take most notice anyway, ask questions, and hopefully the seed will be sown. Bob – I am told Tesco have submitted 2 or 3 sets of plans to the council re road improvements and a better exit, all have been turned down by the ‘we know best’ brigade at Telford and Wrekin.

I meant it’s not enough – it’s a gimmick, the outlay will render it decoration for years.

Perhaps they could take back all the packaging for starters and have incinerators to generate power and recyclers at every shop. ‘Because your worth it’?

Either way it may not matter because in a severe economic downturn and unlike local shops who weather it – they’ll close the sheds and leave town.

I have sent the article onto my Manager, we need to warm up our store these days. The last few weeks it has been Baltic and staff resorting to wearing scarves and gloves at the checkouts.

Perhaps Waterwheels across the Rivers would be more productive. Especially when they are flowing more in Winter peak usage.
They may also be less unsightly.

pity tesco’s cannot invent a wind assisted bus to bring their punters in. certainly a water wheel on the shrewsbury canal may not be of use yet but here is hoping

Excellent idea – every little helps as they say! Maybe all supermarkets should have them. Those saying it will not be enough are probably the same ones who throw recyclable rubbish in their black bins saying ‘what difference will my little bit make’!
