Raiders hit children’s clothes shop
Tuesday 18th November 2008, 1:40PM GMT.
Burglars smashed their way into a children’s clothing shop in Bridgnorth causing hundreds of pounds of damage and stealing half the stock.
Designer Kids Clothing, in Whitburn Street, Bridgnorth, was broken into yesterday morning.
Kerry Baggott, who works at the store, said she was greeted by a scene of devastation when she arrived at the shop, with the till drawer thrown on the floor and clothes taken from hangers.
She said she believed the thieves had passed out the stolen clothes through a smashed side window.
“When I went to the shop everything was everywhere. It was quite frightening seeing it like that,” she said.
“I would say half of the clothes and stock have gone and they took about £70 cash.”
Penny Smith, owner of the shop, said: “It’s got to have happened in the morning in daylight so somebody must have seen something. I just can’t understand what they targeted a kids’ shop for. I haven’t worked out yet a value of what was taken.
“We are hosting a fashion show on Friday at the Cape of Good Hope, in Billingsley, at 7.30pm, and we’re just going to have to make do with what we’ve got.”
