Tommy RobbMotorcycle racing legend Tommy Robb and other stars of the Isle of Man TT races will be coming to Shropshire for an Irish theme night next year.

Ulsterman Robb was a multiple GP, TT and North West 200 winner, with an illustrious Isle of Man career stretching from 1958 to 1979.

Born in Belfast in 1934, he was a top factory rider for Bultaco, MZ, Bridgestone, Yamaha and Honda. Robb will be the compere at a charity fundraising event at the Wynnstay Hotel, Oswestry, on February 20.

His sons William and Michael will be among the guests at the Oswestry evening.

Since the event began in 2005, it has raised £27,670 for charity.

Riders Phillip McCallen and Alan Patterson will be at the evening, while Jamie Whitham will be signing his new autobiography.

One of the organisers, Mr Phil Morris, said many other famous names would be in the audience.

He said: “The event held in 2008 raised £9,270 for charity. Our target for this year is more than £12,000.”

There will be an auction of memorabilia on the day and anyone with items to donate can contact Mr Morris on 07802 655165 or e-mail phil@philmorris.me.uk
