Mansion may be sold for £1m
Saturday 15th November 2008, 10:10AM GMT.
A historic Shropshire mansion could be sold for more than £1m.
Old Colehurst Manor, near Market Drayton, is on the market with Savills, and bosses at the firm say a “good offer” has been made.
The property, a Grade II Listed Elizabethan manor house is steeped in history, with claims Charles I has stayed in one of the rooms.
It is run as a hotel for part of the year, with visitors able to enjoy a 17th century medieval experience and six-course banquet along with typical medieval housekeeping staff.
Loved-up couples have also held their weddings at the home, with traditional and special medieval wedding days catered for at the property, and a menu boasting traditional dishes from the 14th to the 17th century.
The property was almost derelict when the current owner Bjorn Teksnes bought it, but he has spent the last seven years restoring it.
Lord Teksnes today said he had agreed a sale for the property three times, but the buyers were unable to sell their homes so he is still the current owner but wants to sell the home to “the right people”.
Tony Morris-Eyton, from Savills said the property had been on the market since the beginning of the year, but there was a good offer on the property from buyers who wanted it as a private residence.
