FTSE 100 up 3%

The FTSE 100 jumped over three per cent this morning after a dour few days in London.
At 9:37 GMT, the index stood at 4,308.11 – a rise of 138.90 or 3.33 per cent.
The index was boosted by miners, but gains were led by Prudential – up 11.60 per cent to 300.75p.
Anglo American was up 9.38 per cent, Antofagasta gained 8.59 per cent, and Xstrata rose 8.09 per cent.
Standard Chartered gained 8.09 per cent.
The only notable drop came for Reckitt Benckiser – dropping 2.75 per cent.
Last night in New York the Dow was up 6.67 per cent, while in Asia the Hang Seng rose 2.43 per cent and the Nikkei gained 2.72 per cent.
On the currency markets sterling was up against dollar and euro to $1.4886 and €1.1729.
