Two killed in three vehicle smash

Thursday 13th November 2008, 4:30PM GMT.

Two people have died in a smash involving three vehicles on a busy Shropshire road this afternoon.

The A41 near Newport was closed following the accident, involving two lorries and a third vehicle believed to be a people carrier, shortly before 3pm. The road remained closed at 6pm.

Fire, ambulance and police were called to the scene after reports two people were trapped in a vehicle.

Force Duty Inspector Clive Eastwood, of West Mercia police, confirmed two people had been killed and the road would be closed for some time.
