Thursday 13th November 2008, 8:50AM GMT.
One thousand copies of a new leaflet about Wrekin Hillfort have been published with the help of Heritage Lottery funding.
It is available at the Halfway House Cafe and Shropshire Wildlife Trust’s shop in Shrewsbury.
The leaflet highlights the history of the scheduled ancient monument, which is under the protection of English Heritage and funded and managed by the Raby Estate.

It is packed with information ranging from the fort’s Iron Age heyday to the rowdy Wrekin Wakes which were abandoned in the 1820s.
Pete Lambert, Wrekin Forest Project Officer, said: “We are very pleased with the layout and content.
“A big thank you to an expert team which included George Evans, president of All Friends around the Wrekin, noted writer Allan Frost, professional historian Shelagh Lewis and the kind auspices of the Raby Estate, owners of the hillfort.
“The leaflet was paid for by the Heritage Lottery Fund, as part of the Wrekin Forest Project run by Shropshire Wildlife Trust.
“We hope the leaflet will help promote better understanding of the importance of the hillfort and let the unsuspecting new visitor in on some of the secrets of this fascinating place.”
The next meeting of the Wrekin Hillfort Restoration Group is on December 3 between 10am and noon in the Wrekin Room at the Buckatree Hall Hotel.
