Woman injured by horse

Monday 10th November 2008, 2:10PM GMT.

A woman was airlifted to hospital after she was injured by a horse in north Shropshire.

Debra Barsby, who is believed to be in her 40s, was injured on her farm in Hinstock, near Market Drayton, at 3.50pm on Saturday.

It is believed she was loading a horse into a horsebox when the animal panicked and backed out of the horsebox, falling on her.

Mrs Barsby was airlifted to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but had not suffered serious injuries, and was discharged with bad bruising.

She was today believed to be recovering at the home of a relative.

An ambulance, rapid response vehicle and the County Air Ambulance from Stafford were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said that crews gave the woman pain relief at the scene.

They gave her treatment before taking her by air ambulance to hospital.

She added: “On arrival at the scene, crews found a woman who is believed to have been injured by a horse.

“The woman was treated at the scene for multiple injuries.

“She was given pain relief at the scene before being immobilised and airlifted to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further assessment and treatment,” the spokeswoman added.
