Exercising for Air Ambulance
Monday 10th November 2008, 10:30AM GMT.
A group of fit and 50-something fundraisers were put through their paces in Telford at a charity aerobathon in aid of the West Midlands Air Ambulance, writes Simon Hardy.
The Over-50s club, which meets at Jubilee House in High Street, Madeley, rose to the charity challenge under the watchful eyes of instructor Cheryl Jauncy.
More than 20 club members went through their aerobics exercises for 90 minutes, including 80-year-old Marianne Deans.
Mrs Deans, of Woodside, Telford, said: “I didn’t feel too bad at all afterwards.
“I have always been active and have been doing keep-fit since the 1970s.”
She added: “I even used to teach my own classes until I retired.”
The club members are now busy collecting up their sponsorship pledges and they intend to hand over the proceeds to a representative of the West Midlands Air Ambulance later this month.
The club meets every Monday morning at Bridle Court, in Madeley, and every Friday morning at Jubilee House.
Anyone interested in joining the club should phone Cheryl on (01952) 608355.
