Thousands to remember our heroes
Thursday 6th November 2008, 8:59AM GMT.
Shropshire will come to a standstill this Sunday in memory of servicemen and women who lost their lives fighting for their country.
Thousands of people are expected to take part in a two-minute silence across the county at 11am as part of Remembrance Day.

The day marks the 90th anniversary of the end of the hostilities in World War One. The guns fell silent on November 11 at 11am in 1918.
Poppies and prayers will be the theme for the day when people meet to pay their respects at war memorials and join parades all over the area.
Councillor Pat Smart, of Hadley and Leegomery Parish Council, said: “It’s the 90 years which makes it so special this year. After all, it’s been that long since the memorial services started and I just hope that it continues to be supported.
“So many sacrifices were made so it’s just nice that we can remember these brave people.
“I especially like it when all the young people come to pay their respects – that means a lot.”
Simon Heys, scout leader at Donnington, said: “We are going to be part of the parade at Donnington, which leaves from our scout hut on Wellington Road at 10.40am before moving on to the war memorial on Wrekin Drive.
“Joining us this year will be the Beavers and Cubs hopefully as well as the Guides, Rainbows and Brownies. And if the girls do join us then that will mean up to 100 of the girl and boy scouts will be attending altogether, so it should be a very special day.”
But what is also proving special this year is the 90th anniversary of RAF Cosford. The museum will be holding a service in Hangar One on Sunday as well as time for reflections in the museum’s Lest We Forget exhibition.
