Views wanted on Welshpool’s future
Tuesday 4th November 2008, 6:00AM GMT.
People in Welshpool are being urged to have their say on the future of the town before it is too late.
Civic leaders in the town have already warned they will
not tolerate “whingers” after the development is complete who failed to
have their say beforehand.
For the past two months, Welshpool Town Council has been
holding meetings with the public over plans to redevelop the town
centre by 2010.
But with the final date for consultation responses
looming, Robert Robinson, council clerk, has urged anyone who has not
yet viewed the proposals to do so.
He said: “It is essential as many people as possible
should come to these meetings and have their say and put ideas forward
before the middle of November.
“The council will not be impressed with anyone who wishes to whinge after the event who has not expressed a view now.”
A final public meeting will take place in the Corn Exchange at Welshpool Town Hall tonight at 7.30pm.
The Corn Exchange will be open from 2pm today for those
who cannot make the evening meeting to meet Mr Robinson and discuss the
proposals and to fill in a survey.
