Sky and Virgin reach channel deal
Tuesday 4th November 2008, 3:49PM GMT.
BSkyB and Virgin have ended a 20-month row with a new agreement to carry each other’s channels.
Both companies have cancelled the legal proceedings they had launched after the companies fell out last year when Virgin accused Sky of charging too much for its channels.
Virgin subscribers will now see the return of Sky1, Sky2, Sky3, Sky News, Sky Sports News, Sky Arts 1, Sky Arts 2, Sky Real Lives and Sky Real Lives 2 on November 13th.
In addition, Sky viewers will continue to receive Living, Living 2, Bravo, Bravo 2, Trouble, Challenge and Virgin 1.
Virgin Media’s chief executive, Neil Berkett, said: “We recognise the quality and popularity of Sky’s channels and look forward to welcoming them back to Virgin Media’s TV service.”
Jeremy Darroch, Sky’s chief executive, added: “This is great news for Sky and Virgin Media customers alike.”
Both deals will run concurrently until June 12th 2011.
