Readers ‘cue’ for Star snooker fun
Tuesday 4th November 2008, 10:39AM GMT.
The world’s top snooker players are returning to the county next month for one of the biggest events on their sporting calendar – and the Shropshire Star is offering 10 lucky readers the chance to pit their wits against one of them.
Telford’s International Centre is hosting the Maplin UK Championship for a second successive year, and world number one Ronnie O’Sullivan will be seeking to retain his title when the tournament begins on December 13.
Australian star Neil Robertson, the former Grand Prix and Welsh Open champion who is currently ranked 10th in the world, will be in Telford Shopping Centre on November 22 to help promote the competition.
And the left-hander has agreed to play a frame of snooker against 10 different Shropshire Star readers, as well as offering them tips and advice on how to improve their game.
The UK Championship is second only to the World Championship in importance on the snooker calendar, and all the sport’s top players will be in Telford next month. It is broadcast live on the BBC.
