Plans for Trump’s Scottish golf complex approved

American businessman Donald Trump has had his plans to build a new £1 billion luxury golf resort on the Scottish coast approved by Holyrood.
The Scottish government has given the green light to the controversial proposal, which will go ahead in the area to the north of Aberdeen despite local opposition.
Last year, local planners refused permission for the Trump-backed resort, saying the complex would threaten a protected sand dune and wildlife area.
However, Scottish finance minister John Swinney said there was “a significant economic and social benefit” in approving the application after conducting an inquiry.
Estimates from the New York-based group suggest the development could create more than 1,200 local jobs and would result in the complex hosting “the world’s best golf course”.
