Chance to give views on policing
Monday 27th October 2008, 11:29AM GMT.
People in Powys are being urged to have their say on what police should treat as a priority. Residents are being invited to put forward their views on how police services can be improved.
Dyfed-Powys Police will be holding community consultative forums in both Newtown and Llandrindod Wells next month.
Alasdair Kenwright, Dyfed-Powys Police Authority chairman, said it would give people the chance to speak about crime trends in their area and how they think taxpayers’ money should be spent over the next financial year.
“The police authority is the body which holds police to account on behalf of our communities,” he said.
“Our role is to secure an efficient and effective police service and to secure best value.
“In order to represent our communities we need to know what you think.”
He said that people would also be given a chance to put forward their views on what the priorities for policing should be and how the police budget should be spent in 2009/10.
Mr Kenwright said: “We have arranged forums in areas across the force area and urge that people attend to give us their views on how Dyfed-Powys Police should operate in the future.
“We hope there will be an excellent turnout,” he added.
The meetings will take place at the Media Resource Centre, Oxford Road, Llandrindod Wells, on November 12, and at Coleg Powys, Llanidloes Road, Newtown, on November 16, both at 7pm.
