Wem moto-cross team’s fine style

Saturday 25th October 2008, 7:59AM BST.

Wem Moto-crossWem Moto-cross Club finished off their season in fine style at their last meeting of the year at Tunstall Hall Raceway.

The MX2 Junior under-18s category saw some top class riding from Oswestry’s Michael Smith, who took the overall win for the second consecutive week.

Daniel Ellis from Market Drayton finished third in all three races, giving him second overall, and third was taken by Wem’s Luke Roberts who took the chequered flag in race three.

Racing in the Inter Juniors was tough as the future top riders of the sport battled for places.

Undaunted by Tunstall’s tricky terrain, home club riders Ryan Alan Stevens and Nick Bennett set a fast pace and it took the last race to decide the overall winner – Stevens snatching it by one point.

Tim James from Wem was on fire in the MX2 Experts, storming home to three chequered flags.

Scott Smith also took advantage of being at his home track and finished in second.

The Seniors Unlimited class saw the closest result of the day with Oswestry’s Darren Evans winning the opening race.

Matt Shore from Market Drayton snatched the third race win, and the third place trophy overall with Evans having to settle for second spot.
