Simpson plans fine tuning

Manager Paul Simpson today admitted he is considering tinkering with his Shrewsbury Town line-up for tomorrow’s trip to face League Two’s team of the moment.
Simpson has admitted minor changes are on the cards as Town prepare to take on a Brentford side who are unbeaten in 11 games.
But Simpson insisted there will not be widespread switches in the wake of the setback at Accrington Stanley.
“There will be changes but not massive” he said.
“There is nobody who played on Tuesday who I’m thinking ‘there’s no way I can go with them again.’
“It’s more a case of just trying to freshen it up. We have got little niggles from Tuesday night so we will look at it today and see how everyone is.
“There won’t be wholesale changes because I don’t think the team deserves wholesale changes.”
There could be one switch forced on Simpson with goalkeeper Luke Daniels struggling with a thigh injury.
The on-loan goalkeeper is a major doubt and, should he not recover, Glyn Garner will make his first appearance of the season.
That scenario would leave Shrewsbury without a substitute goalkeeper with Scott Bevan and Jasbir Singh on loan at Torquay and Hinckley respectively.
Both are still in the first month of their loan and can not, therefore, be called back.
Potential
Bevan’s initial temporary stint at Torquay is due to end after this weekend, but has been extended by another month with Shrewsbury now having a 24-hour recall.
Meanwhile, Simpson is confident his team can pass tomorrow’s test – if they fulfil their potential.
“We had Brentford watched at Notts County recently (in a 1-1 draw) and we have got a couple of match reports on them and they are a good side,” added the Town boss.
“We know we will have to be on our game. But when we have come up against the top teams so far we have been on our game and we have to make sure that’s the same this weekend.
“They will fancy their chances against us because they are going well. But if we can play to the levels I know we can, I think we are a match for anybody in this League and we have to try and achieve those levels in every game.
“We know there will be games where that doesn’t happen, but we want to maintain that level of consistency and achieve it as much as we can.”

I’M SURE PAUL AND THE LADS WILL BE DISAPPOINTED AT TUESDAYS’ PERFORMANCE AND NOT ONLY THE RESULT. ITS A KICK UP THE BACKSIDE AND TOMORROW IS A GOOD WAY OF TURNING SOME OF THE NEGATIVES OF TUESDAY AROUND TO THE START OF THAT ALL IMPORTANT UNBEATEN RUN. BRENTFORD WILL BE NO MUGS BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN THIS SEASON THE SHREWS HAVE ENOUGH ABOUT THEM FOR AT LEAST A POINT. GOOD LUCK LADS.

SID – So now your a “Manager”.
You think you know better than Paul Simpson.
So I assume from what you are saying you do not think much of Paul Simpson’s judgement so far.
The manager picks the team not the supporters !!!
