Smith tells Bucks to deliver
Tuesday 21st October 2008, 11:29AM BST.
AFC Telford United boss Rob Smith challenged his players to deliver a performance as well as a result in their match against Solihull Moors.
With only six fixtures in the Blue Square North tonight, a win against struggling Moors at the New Bucks Head would lift United into fourth position.
That would also extend their run to 10 games unbeaten in all competitions, but Smith is adamant that they are still yet to reach their peak.
“Ten games would be a really good achievement for us,” he said before the 7.45pm kick-off.
“I keep repeating that we are not firing on all cylinders, so to move to fourth in the league would be great – we’d be keeping in touch with the leaders and that’d be a decent position.
“We want the win, but we’re also confident that around the corner we’ll put in a solid performance and make winning more comfortable.
“We love playing at home and we’re desperate to put on a show for the fans.”
United and 17th placed Solihull are well acquainted having met in the Setanta Shield just a fortnight ago.
The Bucks won that game 2-1 after extra time but should have been well clear by half time after creating chance after chance.
